7 Things to do When You Feel Ugly

Let’s face it, we all have those days. Whether it’s that our hair looks like a mess or we’re frustrated with a zit that just appeared out of nowhere, it’s easy to get down on ourselves – especially with magazines everywhere trying to tell us what beauty is. Sometimes all you need is a little reminder of how truly gorgeous you are.


Here are seven things to do when you don’t feel beautiful:

1. Let yourself slip in

If you can afford it, give yourself the chance to sleep in or catch a short nap during the day. Sleeping in will not only make you looked refreshed, but it helps banish any bad mood. That’s a double win.

2. Be kind to others

More often than not, it’s easier for us to see other people’s beauty before our own. So why not use that skill? Pay it forward and give other people compliments on their beauty. There’s a good chance they might be feeling down about themselves as well. Plus, kindness is an incredibly beautiful quality.

3. Treat yourself
When you’re taking care of kiddos all day or spending late nights at the office, you’re probably so busy you don’t have much time to take care of yourself. Make time today. Schedule a massage, buy yourself a cute new top, purchase that new lipstickyou’ve been eyeing. If it makes you feel beautiful, go for it!

4. Have a mini spa day
Ever left a spa feeling like a million bucks? So why not do your own little at-home spa treatment? Make yourself a homemade facial, do a paraffin wax treatment on your hands or feet, put those little cucumbers on your eyes (it just looks cool, right)? Giving your body a little TLC will help make you feel better – and make your skin softer!

5. Accentuate the positive

Even at our lowest moments, everyone has at least one feature they love about themselves. Maybe it’s your stunning hazel eyes, adorable dimples or your curly hair. Whatever it is, make a list of attributes you love about yourself and watch that negativity begin to fade away.

6. Build up your confidence

Beauty isn’t just about looks; it’s about having confidence within. Reaffirming each day that you’re beautiful is the first step to believing you’re beautiful. And when your confidence shines through, people will be even more drawn to you.

7. Pull out your favorite outfit

There’s nothing like a flattering outfit to chase away the blues. Pull out an old (or new) fave from your favorite clothing site and wear it today! You’ll be guaranteed to get compliments all day, putting a smile on your face (which makes you even more beautiful).
